COCONUTS 2nd Annual Golf Tournament, benefiting Bolivar Peninsula Lions Club "Swinging for Santa" (Benefiting local families for Christmas), Saturday June 1, 2013. Shotgun Start 8:30 AM & 1 PM at Crystal Beach Community Golf Course.
Surf Conditions - Flag Warning System
The flags are located on the Highway in front of Kites Unlimited and the Remax Real Estate Office.
Businesses, please stop by the Chamber office between 10am-2pm to pick up your Surf Conditions cards. ESD passes Voters approved the creation of Galveston County Emergency Services District (ESD) #2 on Saturday by a wide margin. The final vote count was 202 for, 39 against. The ESD will provide necessary funding to support emergency medical and fire protection services on the peninsula. Commissioners will be appointed in the next few weeks.
The Health District's Animal Services now offers online pet registration. Attached please find a flyer with details on registration; who is required, how to register and the advantages of registering your pet.
People who live in the following jurisdictions are required to register their pets: Bayou Vista, Clear Lake Shores, Dickinson, Hitchcock, Kemah, La Marque, Santa Fe, Texas City, Tiki Island and unincorporated Galveston county.

 Dear Chamber Member, It is that time of year again. As you know, spring is upon us and spring is a period of renewal. That goes for your Chamber membership, also. Our 2013 Membership Drive is in full swing and in order to keep your status current we ask that you fill out a membership application and pay your dues. Chamber dues are due on April 1st, 2013.  Duke University Talent Identification Program (TIP) is a global leader in identifying academically gifted students and providing them with innovative programming to support their development. TIP identifies gifted children and provides resources to nurture the development of these exceptionally bright youngsters. The Duke TIP Academy for Summer Studies offers an exceptional academic and social experience for those students who are among the top 5 percent of academically talented students in their grade level. Students in this program will experience challenging coursework and build friendships with other academically gifted peers. Only students who qualify at the Academy level are eligible for Academy courses. Caitlyn Jackson and Paige Eaton were in the top 5 percent. The program consists of a month long workshop for each girl. Caitlyn has been offered the workshop at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina and Paige will be attending Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Caitlyn and Paige were asked to visit the Bolivar Peninsula Lions Club at their bi-monthly meeting on Thursday night. BPLC has offered to assist the girls in fund raising to meet their goals. Chamber meetings are generally held on the 1st Tuesday of each month at The Joe Faggard Community Bldg. However, this schedule is tentatively set. Galveston County Department of Parks & Senior Services parking sticker program provides funds to maintain a cleaner, safer and healthier beach. Stickers may be purchased at many local stores, real estate agencies, and Beach Parking Attendants. The charge for an annual parking sticker is $10. For sale at The Big Store, purchase at any register!

Bolivar Peninsula BloodShare Bolivar Peninsula BloodShare will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013, from 10 am until 4 pm at First Baptist Church of Port Bolivar, 523 Nelson, Port Bolivar, Texas 77650. Blood will be drawn by LifeShare and registered into a credited account for any of our residents, friends or family that might need it in the future. A very quick screening will let them know if you are eligible to give. The process is quick, not painful, and so necessary to keep blood provided for those who need it most in our community. Rollover Bash & Dash is a clean, family-oriented event that is designed to draw people from all of Southeast Texasfor the purpose of enjoying what Rollover Pass has to offer. This fun-filled day will bring needed attention to the mission of the Gilchrist Community Association and the threat of losing a Texas treasure. Jenesis Events LLC and Gilchrist Community Association bring you Rollover Bash & Dash September 7th, 2013 A day of fun for the entire family. Our children are the most important part of this day, for they will remember the Pass as a magical place where they became a champion and found a treasure too! - At 10 am children under 12 will participate in Kids "K"haos -A kids 1K beach obstacle-run that will finish with a real buried treasure hunt.
Every child will be presented with an award medal that identifies them as a champion as well as the slogan "Don't Pass on our Future...Save Rollover!"They will also be given the opportunity to run alongside their parents in the nighttime beach run. - The day will be filled with fun activities for the children in all of us. Day- long activities will be available and include but not limited to - horse shoes, fishing, volleyball, washer boards, food, drinks, inflatables, vendors, music by Q94 / KD101 bonfire and more.
- At 8pm, the adults will don GLOW gear and head to the start line where they will embark upon a 3.5 mile nighttime beach run. The course is well-marked with LED batons/poles, military chemical lights and torches. The beach will look like space aliens have invaded the Texas coastline as hundreds of tiny glowing lights make their way from start to finish at a 4 mile per hour pace, a beautiful sight for sure.
All runners will receive glow gear and a commemorative shirt that identifies them as a finisher of the run that helped save Rollover Pass.
