This little house is nice enough for two adults. One large window AC that worked fine. The TV was almost gone and the remote didn't work. It will have to be replaced before I rent again. The other problem was a large pipe that couldn't be crossed for beach access. There was no beach access any where close for vehicles. This was June of 07. Should have told us about that. |

We found this house very comfortable for a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children. As to the pipe, Mr Adcock referred to. This is the Geo-Tube. Geo-Tubes are sand and water filled structures of woven cloth bag technology that, like sand dunes, provide protection to buildings and other infrastructure in coastal areas. The geo-tube methods have an effective function of filtration, holding fine sand and soil particles within the geo-tube and allowing vegetation to grow back in the area. . It was very easy to walk over them. Galveston County is very lucky to have them; they are installed in Galveston County in Caplen and Gilchrist and a couple of subdivisions on west beach in Galveston. They have been used all over the world. As to the beach access, that is why we picked this area because we don’t like the traffic on the beach as much. I think about half the subdivisions on the peninsula don’t have access to the beach. If you are looking for beach access, look for houses in the western 13 or 14 miles of the peninsula. Remember you can drive on the beach from the ferry to rollover pass once you get on the beach. If you have any questions prior to renting a beach house, I am sure Swedes can answer them for you.
We are looking forward to out next stay on the peninsula and we will stay at Island Breeze again.

This is a great quick get away!!! We found the house a perfect match for us!! We fell in love with this house....and yes it is little!!! but cozy, and our kids loved easy access to the beach....while my husband drove the car around the overpass...for car beach access , which by the way was less than a minute drive. but the house is so close to the beach eventhough it is second row, that this was not necessary to do every day.... We are planning on going again to this house....We also loved the quietness of the area... |
